Located in the heart of Tuscany, 5 km from the city walls of PISTOIA, a splendid city of art, Villa San Simone is an ancient residence, perched on the foot hills dominating the Florence valley ( 30 min. from Florence, 40 min. from Lucca, 50 min. from Pisa and the sea, 60 min. from Siena and Chianti area ). The Villa was built at the end of the 18th century on the remains of a medieval convent and a Romanesque church dating from 1000 a.d. and it took its name, San Simone. Surrounded by a secular olive-grove and woods alive with deer and squirrels, it offers it’s guests an elegant but informal environment, and the relaxation of a large shady garden with breathtaking views and a panoramic infinity pool. In the heart of Prato’s historical center, stands the Accademia, nestled within the city’s most frequently strolled streets. Constructed in the characteristic Medieval style, the building has been modified and restructured throughout the centuries. In Medieval history, when Tuscany was divided into several city-states, it served as the antica posta or place where messengers (similar to those working on the pony express) arrived, bearing official messages and documents. These hired travelers would change their horses and rest there until their departure the next day. The building’s function changed many times over the centuries as its structure was continuously modified and enlarged. It hosted the servants of the neighboring Palazzo Inghirami, a well-known porterhouse, and was the birth-place of one of Prato’s most famous painters, Lionetto Tintori, founder of the Vainella school. Today, the building has been restructured to reflect its original conformation, using traditional materials from the area. It currently offers the highest level of hospitality to modern day visitors who come to our city for business and pleasure.

The Villa is an ancient house of 18° century today transformed in a bed & breakfast, that disposes of 3 room with private bathroom.
