Roika Tarangire Tented Lodge is a Modern Luxury Lodge that lies nestled on the banks of Tarangire River with 21 en-suite tents inside of which are beautifully hand crafted furniture, uniquely built animal shaped baths as well as showers on the North Western side of Tarangire National Park at the border; and is merely 5kms to the park's main entrance gate.

Geography
The United Republic of Tanzania lies on the Indian Ocean and is bordered by Kenya and Uganda to the North, Burundi, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo to the west, and by Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique to the south. The Tanzania mainland is divided into several clearly defined regions - the coastal plains, which have lush tropical vegetation, the Maasai steppe in the north, 200 - 1000 meters (700 - 3500 feet) above sea level, and a high plateau in the south towards Zambia and Lake Nyasa. Savannah and bush cover for the remaining land area. Volcanic highlands can be seen in the Northeast and southwest of the country. Over 53,000 square Km of inland water, mostly lakes formed in the Great rift valley. The United Republic of Tanzania included the Islands of Zanzibar and Pemba, about 45 Km (23 miles) off the coast to the Northeast of the Country.

Climate
The climate is tropical and coastal area are usually hot and humid but regulated by sea breezes. There are two season of rain in Tanzania: the long rain usually occur from late March until June and short rains fall in heavy downpours, often accompanied by violent storms. The short rains tend to be much less severe. The hottest time of the year is December to March and the coolest months are June, July and August. In high altitude areas such as Kilimanjaro or the Ngorongoro Highlands temperatures can fall below freezing.
International Airports
Dar es Salaam International is 15km southwest of the city ( time downtown 25 minutes). Airport facilities include duty- free shop, car hire, post office, banking and bureau de change, a bar and restaurant.
Zanzibar International Airport is approximately 7 km from the center of Stone Town ( time downtown15 minutes). Facilities include restaurant and bureau de change.
Kilimanjaro International Airport lies 40km from Arusha (time downtown 1 hour). Facilities include shops, post office, bar and restaurant. There are shuttle bus services to both Arusha and Moshi.
Health
As requirements and regulations are subject to change at short notice, visitors are requested to contact their nearest Tanzanian Diplomatic Mission or Travel Health Advisor well in advance of their intended date of departure.
Tarangire National Parks History
Little is known about Tarangires history before colonial times. The park was once
Part of Maasai land, but the Maasai never made use of the park because of the tsetse fly which causes sleeping sickness in cattle.
Tarangire National Park has an abundance of game during the dry season, June to early November it is spectacular because of the abundance of game, Tarangire also has its own migration of wildebeest and zebra other animals that roam this land are Lion, Leopard , cheetah and if you really lucky the African wild dog. Tarangire is also famous for its huge herds of elephants and there are still a few big tuskers wondering around.
Over 517 bird species have been identified in the park which makes it a bird's paradise.
Baobabs are particularly common in this area and most of the names in tarangire are derived from Maasai origin.
Lake barungi which is saline is a few kilometers from the lodge and huge herds of flamingoes can be seen which migrate from Namibia.
Welcome to acacia woodlands with hearty baobab trees strewn around; look out in the distance to shrub lands covered in unique flora.
To compliment the abundant plant life are over 517 identified bird species, it's a birds paradise.
Some of the largest herds of elephants, impala, dik-dik amongst other herbivorous wildlife roam this land; most of the big cats, hyena and the famous African wild dog are frequently spotted.

Roika Tarangire Tented Lodge is situated roughly 125km from Arusha town and is ideally accessible by Dodoma Road although it can also be reached by air since there is an airstrip just nearby in the Park.

The lodge is also within driving distance to Lake Manyara and the famous Ngorongoro Crater.

TENTS
At Roika Tarangire Tented Lodge, we have 21 luxury en-suite tents. Two of these tents are specially constructed with inter-connecting doors and a common verandah to cater for a family unit of up to 08 pax.
Ideally, all the tents provide the lodge with a bed occupancy of 52 pax at one go.
