You can take a taxi from Ataturk Airport which should take you approximately 30 minutes, alternatively there are buses from the Airport which will drop you off in Taksim Square. From there you can either take a taxi or take the Metro to Sishane station, which is about a 10 minute walk away. From Ataturk airport you can take the metro to Zeytinburnu and change for a tram to Karakoy.
From Sabiha Gokcen you can take an Airport bus to Taksim from where you can take a taxi to the Hotel or an airport bus to Kadikoy, from where you can take a Ferry to Karakoy.
Just a note: Taxi drivers are often not familiar with any of the streets in Istanbul and there are lots of one way streets, which causes confusion, therefore we recommend you print a map before travelling.

The IstanbulKart, an electronic pass which you can purchase at any Metro Station and top up with cash or credit card. This card allows you to travel on all Istanbul's public transportation, including ferries. It's cheap, fast and easy.
Tünel funicular, one of the oldest historical underground rail lines in the World which connects Karaköy to Taksim.
