By train: Sapa is about 400 km North West of Hanoi. It is about 9-hour train journey to Lao Cai, a town on the Chinese border, and then the 37km to Sapa will take 45 - 60 minutes car ride of beautiful views more than 1000 meters up into the mountains.
By car and motorcycle:Sapa can also be reached by driving from Hanoi by a variety of routes. The most direct route takes at least ten hours for first time riders.

If arranging travel yourself request a drop off by the night market or the Sapa Tourist Information center which is opposite the church. Walk up Thac Bac Road 100m and you will find Sapa Starlight on your left.
