Peljesac, the second largest peninsula on the Adriatic, kept it's untouched nature and unpolluted sea. Extremely pleasant climate and natural diversity, put Peljesac on the top of the wish list of tourists who want to flee from the urban lifestyle and are looking for an oasis of peace.
Attractive with it's natural and cultural heritage resources, Peljesac is known for it's excellent vineyard sites such as Postup and Dingač, shellfish cultivation in Mali Ston Bay, olive groves, pine woods and Mediterranean medicinal herbs. Peljesac is full of small bays in which you can find one of the most beautiful beaches on the Adriatic.
5.5 km long "Ston walls", built in the XIV century, famous for being the largest stone walls in Europe, are situated at the very beginning of the Peljesac peninsula in the place Ston as well as saltern which dates from II century BC.
There are lots of churches and monasteries throughout the penninsula, mostly built in the Middle Ages, some of the most beautiful ones are the church of St. Peter and Paul in Trpanj, Franciscan monastery in Podgorje above Orebic, the church of St. Mihovil near Ston and the Franciscan Monastery of Our Lady of Loret in Kuna.
From other major cultural and historical monuments, there is the Maritime Museum and the captains houses in Orebic, archaeological site in Nakovana and Spila, Illyrian fort hill "grad" also in the Nakovana area.
