Ambiance

In 1997 plantationhouse Daniel has been transformed into a guesthouse and restaurant, under the management of Jan Francke (1953), a Dutchman originating from the southern islands of the Netherlands, called Zeeland. Several years ago, Jan Francke - a doctor in biology - decided after years of biological research that his life should take a new turn and make a living of his great passion: food and wine. This led him to Landhuis Daniel Curacao, where he saw the opportunities to fulfill his dream: pampering his guests with his personal signature cuisine and hospitality in a lovely tropical and historical surrounding.
Hotel
This small budget hotel is situated in a recently renovated plantationhouse and offers service and contact on a personal level, which guarantees relaxation in a surrounding of peace and quiet. Our style may be described as laid back and nonconformist, usually not found nowadays in the bigger tourist complexes. Landhuis Daniel has eight comfortable rooms, all with private bathrooms. Four rooms -with seaview- are situated in the old plantationhouse, the other four rooms -former slave quarters- are in the side building next to the plantationhouse and the swimmingpool. On the premises is alsoo a well known gourmet restaurant, a bar, a lounge with library, a swimming pool with sun terrace , a herb garden, an orchid nursery and a children's playground. |

Dining

Restaurant
Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served on the cool and shady terrace in front of the plantation house in a bistro like setting. While a lot of local people came to appreciate the cuisine of Landhuis Daniel, there is often a cozy intermingling of locals and tourists.
The cuisine of Landhuis Daniel can be described as a mix of modern French-Mediterranean and nouvelle Creole cuisine, with emphasis on the taste palette, but with an eye on presentation as well. We are dedicated to use as much as possible locally produced ingredients such as herbs and vegetable from our own garden, eggs, game and fowl from Tropical Farm Oase nearby and fish from our local fisherman. We serve three kinds of menus: our always changing surprise menu, a weekly changing choice menu and a fixed a la carte menu. Vegetarians will also delight in several of the dishes.
In season we also serve Dutch specialities as steamed mussels, white asparagus and game. For the little ones we have a variety of 25 different Dutch style pancakes. The preparation of breakfast and lunch also has the fullest attention of the chef. |
