"Great hotel and very friendly staff. Un hotel muy agradable y el servicio impecable."
This is a very nice hotel, new, pretty and well equipped. The staff is really nice and they gave us all kinds of good advice and made our stage easier. Also well situated near the Old Quarter but in a quiet street. I strongly recommend it.

We are doing great and back in Bangkok. We had a really wonderful time in your beautiful city. We also very much enjoyed the hotel!

We do actually have some feedback. Most of it is of course positive, and some are recommendations that we think would improve the guests stay at the hotel.

Good things:
We thought that the location of the hotel was great. The street it's on is not as busy as many of the other smaller, narrower streets, so we always enjoyed coming back to a less busy part of the city.
The staff at the hotel are all VERY nice, and we really appreciated the way we were treated.
The hotel is new, and that's really always the most important physical factor to us.
The food was also nice.
The TVs with many channels were excellent and large. In fact, our TVs at the new Novotel in Ha Long Bay were much smaller and had only a few channels. So, we were very happy with the program selection and size of the TV at Calypso.
We really enjoyed having a computer in the rooms. Most hotels in Hanoi seem to have the computers downstairs to share with other guests. So, we liked having our own computer.

Things to improve:

Slippers from Vietnam Airlines: They should be clean and look clean. If they are new (which is the best), they should be in bags and look new. If they are washed, you should put a note on them to let guests know that they are washed with the towels and sheets etc.

Tub in bathroom:
1. poor quality -- the tub makes noise and sounds like it will crack when stepped on. I am a big guy so I weigh a lot, but many of your guests will be my weight or higher, so the tubs are not good at all.
2. too high to be safe -- getting into and especially getting out of the tub is dangerous because it's too high from the floor.
3. shower head -- the shower heads are too complicated with 3 or four places to make adjustments
4. placement of tub -- the tub is not placed to prevent water from going all around it and underneath it which will cause water damage and contribute to mold and bacteria growth potentially making guests sick.
** We really recommend not having tubs at all. There should be just a walk in shower which will be safer for guests, prevent water damage and mold/bacteria. The shower head should be simple to use.

Toilet setup:
1. the tissue holder is in a very awkward location and should be easily reachable and not behind the toilet.
2. the toilet hand sprayer for water is on the wrong side for most people. Most people are right handed, but the sprayer is on the left side which should make it quite difficult for most people to use easily.

Computers:
Even though we liked having a computer in the room, there are some recommendations.

1. Working, identical Setup & Security -- We noticed in our two different rooms that the setups were slightly different. It might be wise to invest in a computer program that brings everything back to normal every time the computer is restarted. One program for this is called Deep Freeze. This would allow guests to install or change any software they want on the computer, and then when the computer is restarted, all the programs and settings go back to the original setup. Computers are no good if they have problems, and instead of your guests being happy with them, they will be frustrated.

2. VPN -- Someone may want to check to make sure on the network router that Virtual Private Networking (VPN) and/or VPN pass-through is allowed. This allows people to reach work networks which might be important on vacation.

3. Informational -- There should be a note near the computer that explains how the security is handled. Like, 1. antivirus, 2. firewall enabled, and Deep Freeze program. Also, the note should explain that any changes or files will be removed each time the computer is restarted.

Fridge:

You might consider a couple food snacks in addition to the drinks. There were times late at night when we didn't want to leave the hotel to look for snacks, and it would have been nice to have a couple in the fridge with the drinks.

We think you guys are doing a great job overall for a small hotel, and we hope you appreciate our feedback! If my wife and I have some time, we will write a positive review on TripAdvisor.

Take care and best of luck with the hotel

"The best mid-range class hotel in Hanoi"
We were offered a free upgrade as long as there were spare rooms. The staff was very helpful and really charming. The hotel also offers perfect service and a great variety of guided tours.
